# Python quickstart

> Upload audio, read a typed answer, and discover models.

Follow [installation](https://docs.tazolabs.com/sdk/python/overview.md) and set `TAZO_API_KEY` first.

```python theme={null}
from pathlib import Path
from tazo import Tazo
with Tazo() as client:
    result = client.decisions.create(
        audio=Path("request.wav"),
        state="Choose the action matching the spoken request.",
        questions={
            "action": {
                "type": "choice",
                "instructions": "Which action should be taken?",
                "criteria": {
                    "get_weather": "Get weather for a city.",
                    "NO_TOOL": "No tool is needed.",
                },
            }
        },
    )
    answer = result.answers["action"]
    if answer.type == "choice":
        print(answer.choice, answer.confidence, answer.probabilities)
    print(result.request_id, result.idempotency_key)
```

`model` defaults to `tazo-large`. The result is typed; additional response fields
are retained for compatibility. `request_id` comes from the response header and
`idempotency_key` identifies this SDK operation. Both are SDK metadata and are
excluded from `model_dump()`.

```python theme={null}
from tazo import Tazo
with Tazo() as client:
    print(client.health.check().status)
    for model in client.models.list().models:
        print(model.id, model.ready, model.capabilities.question_types)
```

Health sends no bearer credential and works without an API key. The documented
unhealthy response returns `status="unavailable"`; network failures still raise
an exception. See [uploaded decisions](https://docs.tazolabs.com/sdk/python/uploads.md) for file inputs and
[errors](https://docs.tazolabs.com/sdk/python/errors.md) before adding your own retry loop.
